We play with heroes for all 4 races - Human, Orc, Undead and Night Elves to reveal and stop a demon invasion. The adventure begins with the Orcs and their warchief Thrall... Chasing Visions Mission 1 | Thrall Screenshot | Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos

Here is Thrall, an Orc mage hero. His first task is to learn how to move and attack. Then he need to find the Prophet. The Prophet will ask the orcs to move to another continent and avoid the demon invasion. The hero's levels and items will remain for next missions, but the prologue campaign is short. Now without hesitation, Thrall needs to reach all the checkpoint.

In the next mission, Thrall is still waiting for the Prophet to show up. But there are human around. Although the Orcs and Human are not in war now, there are groups which are hostile. Thrall need to establish a base and make way trough the bridge. All heroes have 6 inventory slots, and Thrall now have a Ring of Protection +1, which gives him +1 armor while he carries it. In Warcraft 3 we can select up to 12 units in a group, and number the group by pressing alt+1. Then pressing 1, the group will be selected.

After Thrall left for the promised lands, the Prophet come to warn the human too. But they have more pressing matters, like uprising orcs near the kingdom. The king sends his son Arthas to deal with them. Arthas is a human melee hero with his first spell Healing. But he can not heal himself, so a good number of Footmen should be his guards.

In the mission ahead, Arthas must build a base and fortify it against the riding orcs. Hopefully, the first in king's command hero Uther is here to help. He can not be controlled, but will defend the base, while Arthas search the lands around for hidden artifacts, items and scrolls. There on the east lies the nest of a Searinox. It should drop some nice item.

In the next 3 days, Arthas realize the orcs are not the real threat. He should investigate a strange plague in the near village. But he is not alone in this mission. There is Jaina. She is a human wizard hero, with a ranged attack to reach flying units, ant she can cast Blizzard and Summon Water Elemental spells. Heroes with summoning are always cool in Warcraft 3. Heroes are more resilient when exploring alone with no support. Unfortunately, Jaina is not a main hero and will be available for just a couple of missions.

Mission 6 is where first signs of Undead appear. Arthas now can have healers in his squad and sometimes scout towers may be found like items and placed by the heroes in the rival bases.

March of the Scourge Mission 7 | Inventory Screenshot | Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos

 In the next mission Arthas and Jaina must survive for 30 minutes, pressed by countless Undead attacks. South of the village there is a house. When reached from there will come 3 more men to fight for the hero. Also the inventory is now full with excellent items, now the dilemma will be which to stay and which to be thrown at the garbage. The green ring increase armor. The yellow ring increase base statistics. Thu hammer gives Strength. The orb gives +5 attack, and allow the hero to attack air units. The claws gives damage. With the level increase Arthas now can cast invulnerability, and have a passive skill to increase +3 armor to nearby troops.

This is where Arthas begin to walk the road of the dark side. He is eager to punish the Scourge (the undead), for they have invaded his lands. First in his vengeance is the Dreadlord Mal'Ganis. In mission 8, they will have a little competition. With all the cool items gathered in previous missions Arthas should easily slay Mal'Ganis a few times and gain advantage.

As Mal'Ganis planned, Arthas continue to chase him in the frozen Northrend. Another uninspected allies are found there. The dwarves and their strange machines. Also a dwarf hero will help in the task at hand, and finding his base at the top right of the map, there is that Steam Tank. Steam Tanks can not attack units, but only buildings and they are quite resilient.

In mission 10 Arthas become insane an betray his men. It i a dark page, torn from the adventure book. And now it is time for him to do what exactly demons planet, to take the cursed sward of Frostmourne. After Arthas take the sward, his attack become chaos and not normal. Now its time to ride the Mal'Ganis base, and unfortunately for him, his master have double cross him, allowing Arthas to take his revenge.

After all his sins, Arthas become a Death Knight and take control of the Scourge. His first mission for the demons is to free some acolytes and begin building his new empire of Undead. Acolytes are the undead workers. They build buildings like the Protoss do, just spawning them and are free for a new job.

The Scourge buildings can be placed only on dead land, irradiated from the main building and the Ziggurats, which acts like farms and increase army limit. Undead do not have a separate building for towers, but the Ziggurats can be upgraded to towers, which is very handy. The Acolytes build building like Protoss, and the buildings are spread like the Zergs. Other than that, the acolytes can only harvest gold, the lumber is collected by the most simple combat unit. In mission 13, the Scourge advance to the lands of the High Elves.

The elves will try to stop the undead advance at the great gates, but they will fail. In mission 14 the Meat Wagon is available. It is the catapult unit for the Scourge and it can attack trees.

To open the last gate to the high elves, Arthas need to obtain 3 Mooncrystals. First he need the Crypt Fiends ability to force flying units to the ground, then to establish a base and defend it from air and drop attacks, and then to use the Goblin Zeppelin to transport the troops to other continents.

This is the mission where the main stronghold of the high elves Silvermoon falls. But before that, Arthas need to stop some runners from the west, There he will find the Scourge first flying unit - the Gargoyle. The Gargoyles can attack either ground and flying units, they are pretty strong and have a special ability to turn to stone. When in stone form, they increase armor and regenerate health faster.

In mission 17 Kel'Thuzad, the reborn Lich, need to speak with the mysterious demon lord, who have issued the plans so far. But to do that, the both heroes need to secure a demon gate to communicate with the lord. As the demon gates are favorite ground of orcs to play, they need to dispose of some orc champions. With the help of the Frost Wyrms, it should not be a problem. The Frost Wyrm is the strongest flying unit of the Scourge. It attacks both ground and flying units with a powerful damage, and can freeze buildings and towers.

Kel'Thuzad is the shaman responsible for the first horde invasion. When it is reborn as a lich in Silvermoon, he will fight along with Arthas from mission 17. He is week, his magics are not very useful and he will stay for a very short time.
