Warlord Battlecry 3 game begins with our ship landing on the Sundered Isle. Our hero, we have just created, will begin his/her epic adventure in the fantasy land of Etheria with the help of some pikemen from the ship's crew and two level 2 units from his/her initial race. Here is a legend for one of those brave heroes:

"It was raining. Miranda was following the road to the west when two Reapers(level 1 demon unit) rushed toward from the trees. With some agile movement we (I, Miranda and the squad) took them down and continued southwest. At the end of the road another Reaper and a Nightmare (nasty level 2 demon cavalry with Armor Piercing) were guarding a treasure chest. We cleared the way and found a new item, Runelord's Cloak +5 Armor (Items are dropped randomly every game, and even after every load before the drop). Miranda put it on and turned around once to wave it. She looked pleased. Back on the road and north we encountered two more Reapers. And it was still raining. Up ahead  we reached a ruined structure. It was so quiet that the danger was immanent. After we cleared the hiding demons, we found another chest with item in it, Fire Giant's Belt (+3 combat, +10 Fire resistance). Confidently proceeded west to the Infernal Rift where some Nightmares made our adventure harder. They needed to be pulled out one by one. At the north-west we found a wounded elf and his comrades slain. He explained, that a mad Ssrathi(lizard race), in his anger, tore the rift between worlds and something horrible came out. We were to find this Thing, but first we needed more information from the snakemen Ssrathi..." Read the full story.

Shrines will appear random on the strategic map of WB3 game and from there the main heroes can get minor quests to do for the current mission. Shrines may give some of the following quest rewards:

• - A plague hero with a bunch of his minions.
• - A squad of zombies very useful as workers in a mine.
• - Random groups of low level armies with a leader.

Barbarian Challenge is available in Daros, to the west of the starting point. It is the barbarians' lands and this mission give alliance with Barbarians. Here is a quite from the walkthrough:

"Barbarians would think highly of us if we accept their challenge and fight 4 of their best heroes. This challenge was very difficult for Miranda, not being a fighter. Anyway, she entered the arena with 4 barbalans, positioned north, east, west and south. The west one was the strongest and the north one the most aggressive. What she did was: always cast Defensive Lore. Letting the north barbarian to chase her and navigating near the west barbarian. The west barbarian is fighting everything and slowly reduced the north one health. When week enough, Miranda hold ground in a safe place in the corner, cast a mage and finished the annoying northern hero. The other 3 were not aggressive and with enough time for mana regeneration she were fighting with 3 mages on her side. After she won, we allied with the barbarians and could take them as a starting race from there on"

This is a screen with two of the neutral building that may appear on the map, playing WB3 computer game. The skull building to the left is an Infernal Temple. If it is neutral, it will do nothing. It is convertible like the mines. And when it is converted, from there we can hire Demon units. Demons are flying level 3 strong units that can summon imps. If the rival hero convert it, he will be able to hire the demons too. If  the temple is destroyed, i will regenerate and appear again in some time as neutral building.

To the right, there is a Harpy Lair. These buildings are always neutral and can not be converted. From time to time they will launch a rogue group of its kind to attack everything on the map, allies and enemies. The Harpy Lair launch 3-4 harpies. Harpies are flying and have the ability to drain mana, making them an annoying critters. To get rid of them, we must go and destroy the Harpy Lair. It will fall easy, but when it is destroyed, an elite Harpy will appear which will drop a random artifacts when it is slain. Goblin lairs and crypts work the same way and are a good source for artifacts hunting.

There are some units in Warlords Battlecry 3 computer game, that make gold when they slay and enemy unit. The ability is called Assassination. One of them is the Gnoll, a level 2 unit from the Minotaur race. Another one is the  Assassin unit from the Dark Elf race.

Increasing the level of the unit, the chance of the ability to be triggered increase too. So these units may be put in the retinue and leveled up every mission. As they are level 2, they will not need a lot of Army Points to come in play and may help a lot in the defense and resources in the early stages. As they are week, they should be carefully handled or held in towers in the later stages of the mission.

Also, playing with their races, we can take a lot of them as expendable units in the beginning  of the mission, and try to make some gold for development.

This is our hero inventory in WBC3 computer game. The item to the left are the item equipped and to the right is the backpack. We have only 4 slots in the backpack which make the ability to carry a secondary equipment impossible. There is another item stash in the game, available before missions where we can store items, but the backpack must have at least 2 free spaces to take items we find in the current mission.

For this Sage hero the limited backpack is very uncomfortable because she is carrying two Rings of the Liche which need to be switched when mana is not needed. Ring of the Liche gives +100% mana regeneration, but reduce the life of the hero with 50%. So as long as she has the rings equipped she is very vulnerable and must stay in safe places to call here mages. Then when some combat tactics are needed, she switched the rings with the two horns from the inventory, or she could perish from one single blow.

The item and artifacts in Warlord Battlecry 3 are a lot. There are some interesting sets too. We can basically equip a helm, a shield, an armor, a weapon, boots and two rings or handlings.

There is a dragon in WWBC3, that we can take in our retinue and play with him when there are enough army points for the mission.  His name is Ragnar and we may find him in Ragnar's Pass location. Before joining, he will give us two missions that will appear in the same location and when we finish the missions, the dragon is ours. Here is a quote from the adventure walktrough:

"The daylight soon faded behind us, and only torches were lightening our path. There was no building allowed, I took Telfalas, a White Mage and 2 Barbarians(lvl1 Barbarian unit) and we dived in the darkness. Nothing to the left and right, the mines there we used for some more XP(every destroyed mine gives 3 experience points). We continued north until we reached an old ruined altar haunted by Undead - Dark Knights and some Wights. To the left there were some Skeletons. To the right - 3 Liches(Undead Leader) and a chest with an artifact Woodland Cloak (+5Resistance + 1 Nature Magic). More to the north following the path, we found a Dragon! Hopefully he was not hostile, when he understood we wasn't orcs or dwarfs. His name was Ragnar and he even agreed to join me if  we can get rid of those burglars, that were trying to steal his treasure. He would be wonderful addition to my retinue."

"We were walking on a road near the end of the steep around. We finally reached the crack, Ragnar's Pass was a narrow way through the mountain to the west, situated between Khazdhul and High Elven lands. It was covered with snow and chill wind was playing  with us. We search around and found a large cave. It was so quiet, making it more mysterious, what's inside. Made a camp around the frozen river shore. On the next day, refreshed, we entered to explore."

To get the Bartonian Knights respect and Champion of Bartonia bonus item, we had to win 5 rounds of their tourney. It is a one to one hero combat, with a stronger hero every next round. Also the rounds are not needed to be won at once. Now this mission may be a little hard for magic oriented heroes, because Bartonian knights are excelent fighters. Being a close combat hero, we just need to put our best armor and weapons and crush them with the help of some buff spells and potions at hand. Being magic oriented heroes we must rely on speed and summonings. We can set a moving path for the hero by holding the shift or ctrl key and point the root on the map. Here is a quote from the game walkthrough, how a Sage hero can beat the bartonian hero:

"Miranda put the battle equipment an made way trough the loudly crowd. The battle was one to one, with every enemy hero stronger than the previous. Her key ace was the movement speed, boosted to the max with all available equipment and spells. She was running across the arena trying to "Call Sages" and avoiding long close conflicts, which were inevitable at some points. The first one was a white mage, not very helpful for the damage she needed. Hopefully the enemy wasn't targeting the Mages so they were installed in the center on hold position. Some more tours around and mana reached another 60 points. When two mages were planted at the middle on hold position, they slowly begun to drop the enemy health, and when the rival hero used all his Healing Potions, Miranda hold and attacked. Next rounds were similar to that one."

The Dwarf Race in Warlords Battlecry 3 computer game is strong but slow. We can play with the dwarfs after we visit Drak Dum and make the missions there. We have to choose dwarves or dark elves, if we ally with the dwarves we can not ally with the dark elves. It is quite fun to play with the dwarves thought.

They are strong and good for entrenching. Their crossbows are excellent tower fillers. They have a special building - the Mortar, that is a high damage additional tower. Their workers fill 2 spaces in the mines, which mean one dwarf worker works for two of other races. Dwarves do not have cavalry. They can train the red dragon from the last level fliers building. With no building that favor mana, it is hard to play them with a mage hero. But they have a Trading Post to exchange resources.

"All we remained to do was to seal Gorgon The Fifth Horseman inside his fortress. We had to stand our ground for 20 minutes, while the keys we have taken from his leutenants are applied and the doors sealed. Not too long after, constructing first buildings, Guardian Skulls flooded to the base, some of them strong level 5 veterans, that made quite damage. Squads of Salamanders(seen on the screen) were trying to force in the defense all the time. Telfalas the Archon(he came from the retinue with a good level) was taking as much damage, before they aproach  the mages, who were desperately trying to hold the towers, while our main hero was converting the nearby mines.

We entrenched, repealing all attack, till the time run out and all keys used. The Runelord Brax then cast the earhquake spell and the fortress dived in to the ground. Only whispering voices remained in the wastes. Now for the next 100 years Etheria would be a relatively safe place."

This is a fun line of mages, following their glorious hero to the combat at the rival base in Warlords Battlecry 3 game. To be able to folow the hero, they ar set on guard stance. And for healers to cast the healing spell when needed without our interference, we set them on "Magic Guard" over the hero. The star near the unit show increase of morale, and the smal ligntning over their heads indicate that they are hasted with a spell. All these mages have come in to play by the "Call Sage" spell.

Call Sage spell is may be the most potent summoning spell in Warlords Battlecry 3 game. We can summon other big and strong creatures, but the Sages can cats spells too and the white mage have a healing spell. A good summoner can call a lot of sages and make marching army of sages to attack and defend.

Call Sage is the seventh spell in the divination tree magic book. Some heroes, like the Sage, start with it and another may adopt it later. It need 54 mana, so a good mana regeneration will allow casting a lot of sages even in the early stages. So reaching level 7-8, a Sage hero can cast "Call Sage" spell which summons one of three mages: White with healing, Black with balanced speed and damage of attack, or the powerful and slow Red mage.

From time to time, when crossing Etheria, our hero will be ambushed by local rogue groups. During ambushed we have a lot of army setup points to bring troops from the retinue and this is the place where Ragnar the dragon can come in battle, because in high level, he will need a lot of army points. There is no building construction in ambushes.

We can see on that screenshot what have left from the barbarian ambush after the dragon sweep. A whole groups of them just perish with a single blow and the hero have done almost nothing, beside some buff spells.
