Xenonauts computer game is one wonderful creation in the ocean of modern heavy 3D games. This type of games rocks and the 2D isometric graphic is amazing. No super cool video card is needed, and playing the game brings a pleasant smooth experience even for medium class PCs.

This screenshot is from a mission outside the cities, where we have shot down an alien ship. Playing on open terrain is fun and fast. There are a lot of obstacles that the xenonauts can use for cover. Our ship have just landed and the squad is advancing with caution. Colonel Renata Lebedeva is caring a plasma sniper and she is staying in the back position to cover the rest of the team. When we discover and produce a flying armour, we can install her on those high rock on the screen and reach a far distances with the sniper as clear shots. The rank of the soldier is shown at the bottom right of the soldier's portrait.

This is the strategic map from Xenonauts computer game. It's in real time and the speed is controlled from the up left arrows. The circlet with the stars are our bases. They have a radar range depending from the radar buildings in every base, that can detect alien ships inside the radar boundaries. The red triangles are the UFOs flying around. The bigger they are the bigger the UFO is. The blue circle is an alien base, we should go there and smush it. The black regions with the red stroke are lost territories and it seems they can not be taken back.

To shoot down an enemy we need to send our interceptors after them. Smaller UFOs are easy, but big ones may need an interceptor full of heavy rockets with good turning speed, so they can launch the rockets and retreat, while the next one finish the alien ship. Depending on the location where the UFO is shot down, they will create a ground tactical mission on some of the terrains: Farm Mission. Forest Mission. Urban Mission. Arctic Mission. Desert mission and more.

After every successful mission the Xenonaut soldier will recieve medals for some achievements during the tactical combat. Every medal increase the bravery of the soldier. As many medals every xenonaut have, more brave he will be and harder to be taken under alien control.

• Crimson Heart: The red medal with the form of heart is dangerous, but easy achieved. The soldier must be wounded hard, less than 30% of health to recieve it.
• Military Cross: The silver cross medal is awarded for eliminating five aliens in a single mission.
• Service Medal: The round yellow medal is awarded for participation in ten combat missions.

The Arctic terrain is easy. A lot of open space and small obstacles to cover. Here, an alien optimistic soldier is advancing alone toward our ship that have just arrived. Unfortunate for him, he have stumbled upon the defensive shield line of the xenonauts and Captain Cynthia Guzman is ready to fire the Rocket launcher from a good rare position. What will remain from this alen is just a weapon... in the best case.

Combat Shields and light weapon tactic is fun. We can advance with the shielded xenonauts without much care. They will spot the aliens and the rest of team, with good rifles and heavy weapons behind them, can take the big damage. Beside, pistols are good at close range.

Here is a squad of xenonauts making farm mission. Farm missions may appear when we shoot down an alien ufo near a city or when the aliens land there to conduct some experiments. But it is different from the terror missions, that are in the very heart of the cities. The squad is equipped with M14 assault rifles, which are our first weapons. The projectile weapons may be used during the whole game. They have a decent damage and we have them with unlimited quantity.

The most money in Xenonauts computer game comes from the countries we defend from the aliens. If we have made many missions in their territories and haven't let UFOs to land and do their research, the country leaders will be pleased and increase their funding for us. And if we let the aliens to infiltrate some of the regions, like North America on the screenshot, we loose every penny from there.

Every month the council of funding regions will evaluate our performance, where we can see how much from who we get. We also get some money from the missions we make when selling equipment(weapons will be sold automatically) and ship parts.

This is how an alien base looks like in Xenonauts computer game. Alien bases can be detected by a flying interceptor near them, or sometimes the regions' authority inform as for a base in their territories. All xenonauts enter the base from one place and begin to explore its endless rooms. There are a lot of obstacles for hiding for both sides.

Most of the team is well equipped with plasma rifles and good armour. We can see one of the aliens that teleport himself (Wraith) lying down, posing no threat any more. The Wraiths are very tricky and it is good idea at the start of every turn, to look around with the xenonauts, because one of them is probably behind their backs. Bases are easier than terror missions, but they need a practiced combat style.

For example, in later stages, our xenonauts will be taken under alien control, so our game style should be loose with teams of 2-3 soldiers. And look around every turn for teleporters if they exist.

This is the equipment screen from Xenonauts computer game. It is the seventh from the square icon in the upper side, over the soldier's head.  From here we equip the xenonauts for the nex mission. To the left there is the soldier's statistics, portrait and medals. Medals are won when certain conditions are met, during the missions(must make a post for them). Under the selected xenonaut statistics we may choose and select another one located in this base.

• To the right an up we have to choose Armour, which will be visible on the center of the screen. This on the screenshot is the Sentinel Armour.  It is the best armour and it have some wonderful advantages. It is light, allowing space for other junks in the backpack before the wight affect movement. It is flying. And it have a wide sight angle.
• Under armour name is the main weapon the soldier have. Because it is a rifle it uses both hands. If we put a pistol, we can place a combat shields in the second hand. Under the weapon we can see the weight statistics.
• To the right is the backpack and the belt. We can place there additional equipment like medikits and grenades, along with ammo or second weapon.
• Most right is the storage. We drag and drop weapons and equipment from there to the soldier.
