Today We Play: Galactic Civilizations

This game never stops to amaze me. It is the first game of the sequence and it is the cleanest one. Here on the  screenshot is my invincible Overlord ship, the biggest one. it has insane attack and good defense, and its mission is to protect the morale star base. And if you are tired of loading for planet quality, you may try GalCiv cheats:

• Increase the class of the planets in the selected star system with +10: CTRL+P
• Increase ship quality: CTRL+A
• Create a battleship: CTRL+B
• Clone selected ship CTRL+C
• Create random ship CTRL+V
• Add $1000: CTRL+M

The ships was closely watching the gal civ border, when Yor came with a funny message. He was ensuring me, that they were not some kind of AI, and can sense my insidious plans. The truth was, that I didn't have one. 99% of the time, I never attack first!

This is not the most beautiful screen from Galactic Civilizations, but it is very informative. In the Stats screen we can observe our empire abilities. They are situated in the top right part of the screen:

• The economic ability bonus will apply its percentage on overall credit generation. 4th importance.
• Weapon ability bonus will be applied on all weapon damage. 5th importance.
• Defense ability bonus will be applied to all shields. 
• Speed ability bonus makes our ships move further away.
• Morale ability bonus will increase happiness on all planets. 3rd importance.
• Population growth ability bring more people to colonies per turn.
• Research ability bonus makes technology discovering faster.
• Influence ability bonus helps fight rival influence.
• Trade ability bonus bring more credits from trading routes.
• Diplomacy ability bonus impruves relation with other races.
• Hit points ability bonus makes all ship stronger. 2nd importance.
• Repair ability bonus speeds repair when ships are in planets.
• Sensor ability bonus increase the visibility range of all ships and planets.
• Espionage ability bonus increase covert ops success.

Planet Quality Event | Galactic Civilizations Game Screenshot

Another awesome event on planet colonization id to find these strange creatures. This planetary event may increase the planet quality without increasing in evil personality. As we can see(up right), this planet is of number 14. With +15% quality it will become at least 15, and personality will not be changed. That's coll, but rare.

Stars and Planets | Galactic Civilizations Game Screenshot

In Galactic Civilizations game, the habitable planets will appear only in yellow stars. Habitable planets are considered those of number 15 and above. For what is worth, the computer rarely, or never,  colonize planets under quality of 15. But with a little luck we can colonize planets of quality 14 and hope for the planet quality increase event.

Starship Bonus Event | Galactic Civilizations Game Screenshot

When colonizing new planets, (after the first one), there is a chance to find different bonuses on the newly found planet. And there is one mandatory bonus, that every player need, this is the Starship Bonus. If I happen to find this bonus, I get the most of it, even if my personality gets a little evil. After that I apply negative bonuses to other planets to become neutral again. With this bonus, the planet will produce space ships with the percentage increase in attack and defense, i.e. more ship quality. This way I can be sure my ship will be stronger than any enemy ship, even when all standard ship quality buildings are constructed by the rival player and me.

Star Base | Galactic Civilizations Game Screenshot

Constructing bases take a huge part in Gal Civ game play. First bases are created over resources to get their bonuses. Every constructor ship, can build one module of the base, and these bases can have more than 50 modules! Second, every star base give its bonuses to the quadrant it;s situated, so first bases should be in quadrant with more stars and planets, so every planet will get the bonus. Bonuses are military and social production, influence, defense and attack.
