Warlords 1 is the first PC video game from the exciting turn based strategy Warlords series, that we used to play during the 90s'.

This is the combat screen for two armies led by heroes. In general heroes are not very strong, until they find some artifacts or thrones in the ruins on the map, that will increase their strength or leadership. The combat is very random. Every combat round, the most left units strengths are calculated to make a winner. It si very easy to loose a strong unit to a weaker one, but the most important is to save the heroes. Clicking with the mouse anywhere will make the combat run faster.

Every castle in Wralords computer game, may produce specific units for certain amount of turns. When the castle is conquared it will ask which unit to build. We mau either double click the unit or press F5-F8 keys. There may be maximum of 4 types of units.

This is the Grey Dwarves capitol and it may produce the special Griffin units, which are flying and strong. Defend the capitol, because if it is destroyed in Warlords 1, it can not be rebuilt.

Warlords - Ruin Search Screenshot

Ruins are very important. The first thing we need to do with our first hero is to go ans search the ruins on the map. When a hero search it it become explored, so it is important to explore as many as possible first. To check explored ruins press "J" key.

When the hero reach the ruin he will need at least 1 movement point to search it, pressing "Z" key. If the ruin have an item, press "T" key to take it after exploration. Before exploring save your game, sometimes the hero may be slain by the defending monsters.

Finding some of the special units in the early stage of the game is very useful to conquer the neutral castles. For example, the Mage have 44 movement points and it is relatively strong.

This is the map of Warlords computer game. Every unit have a certain amount of movement points that may travel over the map for the player's turn. The roadas will tale 1 point to travel  and the plains will take 2. Hard terrain takes more than 4 movement points. Some units like the archers seen on the screen have forest walk, and cavalries have many movement points.
