This is three parts gameplay videos of the Dune Wars mod for Civilization IV game. This mod is very interesting and have a lot of awesome references from the Dune books and movies.

There we are on the planet of Arrakis in Dune Wars mod for Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword computer game.We have built our first city and now it is time to explore the region. There are already some forbidden installations found, that may give a bonus resource, gold, production, science, or a nasty barbarian. The sands are hot and the wind is blowing around the hills down on Dune.

What is best for the Fremen scouts is that they can move 3 tiles on deep desert. It is like having a water walking unit in the original civ 4 game. Fremen scouts are available only to the Fremen Civilization. Actually all fremen light foot units have this ability. Having in mind their special Fedaykin unit and good early technologies, they are one of the best civilizations to play the game.

Gathering of the Tribes is a feature in Civilization 4: Dune Wars computer game mod, that most of us forget to use. Ginaz Training special ability in Civilization 4: Dune Wars computer game mod, is a game changer in the military aspect. It is available only to melee fighter units and the fremen special units, making them unstoppable against cities. It is a special ability that gives +20% strength and +20% more experience from combat. This Naid's Chosen fremen unit from the screenshot is hunting worm. He is confident in his trainings and have the entrapment ability.

To be able to level up our units in Ginaz training we need first to obtain it as a trade contact from the Landing Stages. When we discover Offworld Trade science, it allow us to build two Landing Stages as a National Wonders. Completing a Landing Stage, a window will appear to choose one of many trade contacts. There the Ginaz Training contact can be obtained.

There are some special units in Civilization 4: Dune Wars computer game mod, called Mentats. They are non combat unit, that stay in a city and give it amazing bonuses. We can have up to three of them and first we need to discover the Mentat Discipline technology. There are 6 types of mentats:

Military mentats stationed in a city will with give +3 XP to the units produced there and +5 with Sapho Juice resource. Very useful for the best military production city in the empire
Civics mentats bring +2 health and +2 happiness in the city, but that bonus is actually much more. Very useful for the biggest city in the empire
Culture mentats generate a lot of Culture. Useful for frontier cities.
Financial mentats increase gold production
Industrial mentats increase buildings production and may act like great engineers to hurry production. Very useful for the best city to construct wonders.
Espionage mentats increase espionage production and spy defense of the city.

There are two ways for conquering cities in Civilization 4: Dune Wars computer game mod. One is the standard invasion from the screen with artilleries and foot units. If the artilleries do not reduce the city defense to zero and the civilizations are in equal ages, it is very difficult to take a city.

The second way is by maneuverable squad of many melee fighters. They have a natural city attack bonus and researching more technologies they will become more and more powerful and ignore the city defense ability. Beside, the Fremen light foot units come in play with the ability to pass deep desert, so with such an army we can easily take "coastal" cities. We will not need to reduce the defense, because the melee fighters just ignore it.

There are 7 religions in Civilization 4: Dune Wars computer game mod .It is good to have as much of them, because they give an additional buildings that brings a lot of health, happiness and culture. If we don't find them we need to acquire a city with the religion by to ways. First we can build a hunting city near the civilization that have found the religion and wait for a while so it spreads there. Then build the special unit and bring the religion in to the main cities. Second way is just to conquer a rival city and do the same.

CHOAM temples allow +2 merchant specialists in the city and the cathedral gives happiness and culture. It is the third religion closer in technology tree.

Thinking Machines does not unlock buildings, it just jives additional science. It is the sixth religion closer in technology tree.

Mahdi temples gives +25% military unit production and it can not be spread by units. When the technology for it is discovered it will automatically spread in 4-5 cities and will not spread in cities that already have another religion. It is the second religion closer in technology tree.

Shai-Hulud temples give + 1 water in the city and the cathedral gives happiness and culture. It is the first religion closer in technology tree.

Qizarate temples give + 1 happiness in the city and the cathedral gives +5 happiness, +5 Health and +5 Culture. It is very handy for large cities. It is the fifth religion closer in technology tree.

Zensufism is available only to the Tleilaxu family from the beginning and can not be spread by any mean to another families. The temple give + 1 happiness in the city and the cathedral gives happiness and Culture.

Imperial temples give + 1 happiness in the city and the cathedral gives happiness and Culture. It is the forth religion closer in technology tree.
