Planetfall mod for civ 4 is a very successful remake of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri game from the 90s. It uses the same engine but all units, buildings and terrain are redesigned to bring as closer look as possible to the planet atmosphere.

Defending the seas is tricky. There is a lot of fungus in the later stage, and ships will be difficult to pass, if they do not have the special module for crossing them. But there is the Isle of the Deep. It is a native life form that can be produced after discovery of certain science, and if not much damage to the planet is done. Isle of the Deep can increase in more than 12 levels, making it a fierce foe.

Here is one city with decent food, minerals and energy output. We keep 3 farms, one with nutrient resources.A condenser. Two forests and all the rest solar collectors. The water shaft with boreholes on them gives a lot of minerals and energy but make a lot of pollution.
