Mission 1 - The Beginning
I found myself in the fantasy world of Eador. And as far as I know this is the longest turn based staregy game in the world (in 2017). I crossed mountains, planes, a forest, through the sea, to reach my castle. Yep I have a castle, it's amazing! And ofcourse, there was a rival. The combats in Eador appear in separate window and are very similar to Heroes of Might and Magic combats.
Shard 1 - World of Eador
After I defeated the rival lord, the shard become part of my new world. Combining more shards my world become bigger, or simply give me more energy. The concept of Eador, seems to be very similar to the fate of our universe, the real one, and it is called the Astral. A long time ago after a big bang, created by some powerful device and an evil lord, Eador was destroyed and shatterede to many many shards. Now new lords appear and try to bond the shards in world designed by their philosophy and personality. So here is my world and some shards around. Acquiring a shard also give new buildings to build in my castle. And there are a looot of buildings. An important building from the shard I choose is the Crystal. It gives my heroes quests and rduce the cost for hiring heroes.Shard 2 - Merchant Court
Nothing significant happened on the previous mission and I'm eager to join another shard. At firts, they are small and tiny shards with local lords only. The next building may be quite important, as there are no good armies at the castle, and the Merchant Court may offer some cool level 2 army for the heroes.Mission 2 - The Labyrinth
Passing near a halfling settlement, my main archer hero found a labyrinth! Every province in Eador shards may contain a number of random sites. Some are sombat, another noncombat, resources, or quest givers. To find new sites, heroes need to explore the provinces. Labyrinths are one of the game changers. Having it in the first 50 turns gives a lot of confidence. They can be explored with 3 options. The upper option may give nothing, a treasure, small band of minotaurs or hiring the minotaurs which is a level 3 unit, if the hero can carry one. Middle option give the same outcome but the minotaurs are more. The third most down options may give rare or legendary items after beating the minotaurs, but will destroy the labyrinth. If I want to keep it I shouldnt use the third down option.Shard 3 - The Infirmary
I wandered and wondered which shard to join next. Well let me think, hmmm. this one, mm that one. Ok a tiny sea shard should be quick. Infirmary is a building constructed in the provinces and not in the castle. But a few turns ago, in the Astral, I got an event to give two energy every turn, but making all my people immune to epidemics. As a good lord, I try to make best for my people and I spent those 2 very important energy, so this building may not be mandatory for me. As a rule, I always take the events that need energy and try not to be greedy.Mission 3 - Dragon's Lair
The dragon's Lair is another game changer. Having it, I'm sure I can get the first legendary or rare item right after my archer hero reach level 10 and acquire the double shot ability. Here is a gameplay movie how to slay a dragon with 10 level hero.Shard 4 - Oinor
Right after that I met another lord. Oinor is a former mage and is considered to be good in nature. Meeting him on the shards, he is not very agressive and warns before atacking. According to my research he doesnot play any significant role in the Fate of Eador. He plays a role for the Doh-Gor amulet event, which is described when I met Doh-Gor on Shard 9.Mission 4 - The Market
The best castle structure from the next couple of shards was the market. Constructing the market in provinces, allow heroes to acces the inventory screen from this province. Before it, to store and change equipmet I used to go back into the castle.Mission 4 - Heroes Choice
All went well. Here are some statistics for the archer hero. It is always my first choice and I play early second hero build with the Warrior. My brother always start with the Commander hero, I can never understend that build!Shard 5 - The Brewery
The next shard unlock important province buildings like the fort and teh brewery, which will allow later to upgrade the Mills for more money. Some fellow autors neglects province income and emphasise on income from combats, which is the case at a later game. But getting +100 income in thefirst 20 turns, by carefuly placing, upgrading and saving money - matters! For example: If by turn 20 I get all province in the firts radius, and a few on the second, my archer hero should have at least 1 Diplomacy ability. I need 200 gold to bribe provinces with human population and taking a new province for 2 turns is quite cool at this stage.Mission 5 - 73 Gold from Province
There is always that question, which is the best set of province buildings to get the most income. The right answer is luck :) Every turn, there are random events that happens on the provinces. Some of this events may significantly boost the gold income, making one or two provinces per shard like this one on the screenshot. Like every beginning, even in real life, I, We, They, crave for gold and money. Bu later, that will change... well in this games, that is :)Shard 6 - Third Crossbow
There are Four main paths I follow in developing my castle. Units, Magics, Weapons and Specials. No matter waht, i always prioritize the ranged weapon path, as my first hero is archer. I need to get the forth crossbow as soon as possible, so I can slay a dragon with castle weapon and not counting on luck any more.Mission 6 - The Mage
My third hero is usually a mage. It is mandatory for my strategy. The problem is when there are no swamps and forests to give crystals. Either way, the mage can join summoned undeads in his army, having the proper abilities. When I get the Vampire, I can give it to another hero ans rise another one, making the mage a factory for undead units. Demons can not be joined. But the Ghost unit is the game changer, for it - later.Shard 7 - Beleth
Another hard battle and I'm back in the Astral to meet another lord - Beleth. Beleth is an evil necromancer. Though he is quite agressive, he warns before atacking. Also he is important to Eador story and shouldn't be destroyed early in the game. He also can buy the Doh-Gor amulet for some 200-300 energy, should I choose not to use it.Shard 7 - Alterge
The next shard offers some castle building upgrades. Every shard have size and type. Mixed shard ensure the presence of all kind of resources, the most important of which, are the horse and the iron.Shard 8 - Equipment Buildings
The shards around are still small, but they begin to offer more and more energy.Mission 8 - Centaur Alliance
Its time to mention the alliances. There are number of unique races which offers alliance, depending on the player's carma. For example, elves will not want alliance with me, if I'm cruel lord. The carma is defined by our actions on province events. This time I made alliance wit the centaurs. This allow me to hire the second level centaur unit, making it the strongest alliance. But I can not always make it as their tasks are harder and need a later game. The coolest alliance for me is with the elves. Elves are very expensive(it is fixed in later versions), but are amazing level 1 unit. Also Ekves have a castle building for mass happiness.Shard 9 - Doh-Gor
Then it popped from the near shard - Doh-Gor, the crazy barbarian. He is exptremely agressive and after the second attack on my home shard I decided to destroy him. Also his flag is orange, like mine, and when we meet on shard combats, we are different only by the flag sign. After I conquered his home shard he was cast to chaos(eliminated) and I got the Doh-Gor amulet. After that, if I speak to Oinor I recieve an option to use the amulet, destroy it or keep it. If I choose to use the amult I got a permanent alliance with orcs form the beginning of every shard combat. Though it is very temting to have such an advantage, it forbids making another alliance ever. I didn't destroy it either and sold it to Beleth for 200-300 energy.Shard 9 - Jousting Arena
Finally it is time for the second level units and the moment I saw a shard with Jousting Arena I rushed to join it. I will no more rely on luck for second level units and the cavalry is amazing fast dude for near neutral lords like me. They do not recieve negative morale fighting along with ghosts or undead units.Mission 9 - Exploring Provinces
There are some items and buildings to help the heroes to explore provinces faster. One of it is the Wolf's Fang amulet. Should I find it in stores, I always take it. On this mission I was very lucky to find the forth level spell Mass Suicide, which is the ultimate game changer. It works perfectly with archers and mages against neutral units. Agains another lords and undead it may not ne so effective.Shard 10 - Dungeon
When playing on shards, having more and more provinces, the corruptions gets more too. The Dungeon is constructed in teh castle to reduce overall corruption by 10%. There are also province buildings that reduce corruption. This was my first average shard, having at least 3 rival lords.Mission 10 - Sites
Ocasionally I need to check what sites are there in my lands. Should I need specific sites for quests or hero asignements I press "p" key and sort the things out.Shard 11 - Vianta
And then I met Vianta. Logically she is my favorite lord. She is a good natured fairy queen with quite strange temper. She may either help me in missions against evil lords by sending fairy units, or she may attack me on shards even withowt warning. But she is a women after all, what else to expect from a women :) Vianta do not have any significant role in the Eador's fate. She mentions the Keys of Truth, which are one of Eador's end game scenario, but she obviously do not have one of the keys. Until shard 37 I had only one Key of Truth and know another is in possesion of Stenrya (Shard 23).Mission 11 - Average Shards
The next average shard offers some castle buildings and a useless level 2 unit for bad guys. Aftre that there are large, big and very big shards.Mission 11 - Achievement I
My first achievement wasn't very memorable, but by then I thought to be remembered for 243 years is quite a lot.Mission 12 - Quests
Completing quests, my heroes get experience and rewards in gold, crystal or items. There are a number of quest givers:1. The castle crystal -Need to eliminate a number of any units and reward gold, crystals or magic item.
2. Temple of Light - Need to destroy a number of undead or demon unit and give 3 choices item.
3. Mage Towers - Need to obtain a scroll and reward gold.
4. Alliances - Need to eliminate units or obtain an item and reward the alliance.
