Combat Screen | Temple of Elemental Evil

Combats in Temple of Elemental Evil are very exciting. Unlike most RPGs, they are turn based and every character have 2-3 points of energy to use per turn. This is where for the first time I observed the initiative factor, later applied in most RPG and strategy games.

• Hints: Long weapons like spear or polearm can hit the enemy from the second line.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is the ultimate turn based strategy game in the transition from 20th to 21st century. This game have endless mods, scenarios and campaigns and is well played even in our days during 2016. The small screen still remain an issue, but the fast pace, small requirements and tons of resources and artifacts, makes Heroes 3 better than any version after Heroes 4.

On the map we move our armies and find resources, mines, units, friends, enemies, castles, artifacts and who knows what. Unlike heroes 4, armies may be moved only by a hero.

Cities are cool place for thinking. They bring gold and allow recruiting armies, when appropriate building is constructed.

Eador is one of the longest turn based strategy games out there. The campaign of the game may take up to 6 months, exploring every corner of the maps and chasing set artifacts. Map and Sites | Eador: Genesis

This is the map from a later game mission. Every province on a given map may have more than 8 sites in it. Some of the sites are revealed by default, other must be found with exploring hero, and another we may build in the home province. The crystal is used to obtain small minor quests. The arena may be very useful for generating money, having the sense to pick the winner/ There are also many and different kinds of shops, which hold interesting artifacts.

Magic Tree | Eador: Genesis

Here is the magic tree in the main castle. We can have 3 level 0 spells. 12 level 1 spells. 9 level 2 spells. 6 level 3 spells and 3 level 4 spells. Spells are placed in the hero spell slots and every spell may be perfect for different combat. One of the game changer spells is the summon ghost 3th level spell. First ghosts are immune to physical weapons and second, a mage with 3th level army slot may take teh ghost in his army and further develop and upgrade it. This mean a mage hero may become very powerful for a very short time.
