Space Rangers: A War Apart - The Best Games Ever

 

The latest title in Space Ranger 2 series, including all previous versions. The Men in EG are doing what the gamers want, they keep the game style that is amazing and add new content. A lot of new features, ranger class, modules, ship component and quest make the game worth of replaying. I like the idea to get lost somewhere in space, but in this game there is always something to do. Going for delivery quests, mending the probes, gathering equipment in one planet and guarding it against pirates and dominators, collecting nodes for new modules, checking science labs for upgrading new equipment and searching for easy fights and system liberation.

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - The Best Games Ever

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is a very hooked RPG puzzle game. The campaigns are somehow short and it may take 30-50 hours of gameplay. Basically the player travels through a beautiful designed 2D fantasy land and enter in puzzle combats to gain XP, items and resources. The player control 5 types of different units that must be matched in formations to attack the enemy. Once undertaken it is very hard to drop this game.

In UFO: Enemy Unknown, X-COM 1 or simply UFO 1, the Earth is attacked by aliens. It all begun on Friday 1st January 1999. The countries gathered and undertook a budget program, to form the X-COM corp to defend the world from the invasion. We are the leaders of this corp. We hunt the ships on the globe view and  after they are shot down or land we send a squad of soldiers to make turn based tactical missions.

It was a chill winter night during the 90's, when my brother came again and mentioned this game. By then I already knew his suggestions are worth. They were great times in the local computer hall. Everyone was playing X-COM 1 game, while the other kids were tickling the girls. And while I can return to this game again and again, I can not return to those nice girls that are long married now. Just can not imagine how the previous generation have grown up without computer games and just imagine how today's kids grow up with the modern cool looking games. Well, they are not as interesting as the games in our times, but the magic still remain if they really like what they play, making unforgettable  times.

After we shot down the first alien craft, we go there to make the tactical combat. The squad is deployed in the jungle where the UFO fell and advancing with caution. Gerhard is equipped with the Auto Cannon, may be the best of the first projectile weapons available. The soldiers have no armour, only the thin x-com uniform. Any hit from the alien plasma weapons will probably kill them.

Every soldier in UFO: Enemy Unknown have some basic statistics that will affect his performance in combat. They also have a rank, that have no any game effect, although a high rank soldier should rise the squad's morale. What statistics do and how are they caped in the original UFO:

• Time Units are used by the soldier to move and fire. One step on clear terrain cost 4 time unit. Capped at 80. Increase on kill.
• Stamina will drop rapidly when the soldier make a lot of movement, thus he will need a turn or 2 without moving to regain it. The soldier can still fire even if without energy. Capped at 100. Increase on kill.
• Health define how much damage a soldier can stand before he fall. A lot of health will ensure his survival. Capped at 60. Increase on kill, on damage taken.
• Bravery defines if the soldier may panic or go berserk during combats. Do not take soldiers with less than 50 Bravery. Capped at 70. It increase rarely by 10. 
• Reactions define if the soldier will fire during enemy turn. To make a reaction shot, the solder must have reserved time units for the shot, during the previous turn, and spot an enemy while moving or firing at him or another team member. Capped at 100. Increase on reaction made.
• Firing Accuracy define the accuracy with ranged weapons. Capped at 100. Increase on kill.
• Throwing Accuracy define how far a soldier can throw a grenade. Capped at 100. Increase on throwing anything.
• Strength is used to carry load. If the soldier have a little strength and we put in his hands a heavy gun, his Time Units will fall. Capped at 70. Increase on kill and overloaded.

There are 2 more statistics unlocked at later stages.

• Psi Defense. Soldiers with low psi defense will be easily taken under alien control.
• Psi Attack. Soldiers with high psi attack can take aliens under control.

Heavy Cannons have nice damage but does not have auto shot. They are not suited for assault, but rather stay in the back line and fire at what the scout have revealed.

The Sectoids are one of the first aliens we will meet in the game. They are fable creatures and have no  armor. At first they are easy prey, but then the story reveals that they are the masterminds of the invasion. At later stages, Sectoids come with powerful psi abilities and tons of heavy plasma. It is important to have a Sectoid Leader alive - he will unlock the Psi technology. For now, Yako will just shoot this critter with the simple rifle on auto shot. Hope she will not miss, or the alien will make reaction shot and kill her.
