In Civilization 5, the civ series take into a different road. It is yet a turn based strategy, but no more 4x4, but 5x5. Significant changes are also city radius, which expand in totally different way. Resources are generalized. Units can no longer inhabit the same hex and make vast armies. The game is usually won with 10-15 cities, and not like in old times when we could make 100 cities.

Beside production and luxury resources, there are some natural wonders, that act as resource in the tile they appear. Also upon discovery, these natural wonders gives +1 Happiness each.
