In Knights of Honor PC video game, armies that consist only from cavalry, will travel faster on the map. Leveling the general, we may get the ability to move faster and upgrade it to lvl 3. That will make the squad uncatchable. Fast armies are not suitable for sieges, but chasing rivals, that cross the empire borders, or rebels. The food cart near the units show how many supply the army have. The food is refilled when army reach a city.
