One of the key mining resources in the game Craft the World is the Coal deposit(centre of the screen). Part of the gameplay is to dig the depths in finding it. First of all, the coal is not renewable resource like the wheat, the trees, the fruits or the fish, until discovery of Advanced Alchemy. Second it is consumable, not like iron(right on the screen) and stone. From iron we make armor, from stone we make walls, but the coal we need for baking, and the delicious meal is consumable. The dwarves like good food so we need to get in the cooking business and cooking need fire, which needs coal.

Then we will need more and  more of the precious coal, and dig deeper and deeper. And deep inside the earth's crust, there are monstrous beings, and critters, ruins with treasure chests and may be a dragon. Somewhere there, in a moisture ancient hall, lies the portal to another world.
